Castelmola
Il borgo è iscritto all’Associazione “I Borghi più Belli d’Italia”.
Le origini di Castelmola risalgono al periodo pre-ellenico. Sicuramente per la sua posizione sopraelevata fu un tempo la vera acropoli di Taormina. Il punto più elevato si raggiunge salendo per un sentiero, dalla piazza principale del paese, (Piazza Sant’Antonio) fino ai ruderi del castello.
Sulla piazza esiste un belvedere che offre una splendida vista sull’Etna, sulla costa ionica e sulla città di Taormina e in fondo a est la costa Calabra. Costruita nel 1954, la piazza presenta una pavimentazione a mosaico in pietra bianca e lavica, e marciapiedi alberati dove sono collocati sedili in pietra.
Il borgo è caratterizzato dalla presenza di un antico castello di cui restano solamente i ruderi delle poderose mura normanne e in questa suggestiva cornice si tengono gli spettacoli di falconeria.
La Chiesa Madre, ricostruita tra il 1934 e il 1935 sulla preesistente cattedrale, è intitolata a San Nicola di Bari. Architettonicamente presenta una commistione di stili: dal romanico al gotico, dall’arabo al normanno. Costruita nei pressi di punta san Giorgio, la chiesa si distingue per la sobrietà delle linee architettoniche e per l’unicità del suo campanile.
La chiesa di San Biagio, fu la prima chiesa edificata a Castelmola. Infine la Chiesa dell’Annunziata costruita nel 1100 da Ruggero il Normanno.
Nel periodo natalizio, tra le viuzze del borgo, vengono realizzati dei presepi molto suggestivi.
Tra le specialità eno-gastronomiche del borgo troviamo il vino alla mandorla, pane casereccio, maccheroni fatti in casa, miele, mostarda, fichi secchi con le noci e olive.

Castelmola
The village is enrolled in the Association "I Borghi più Belli d'Italia".
The origins of Castelmola date back to the pre-Hellenic period. Certainly for its elevated position it was once the true acropolis of Taormina. The highest point can be reached by going up a path, from the main square of the village, “Piazza Sant'Antonio”, to the castle ruins.
On the square there is a viewpoint that offers a splendid view of Mount Etna, the Ionian coast and the city of Taormina and the Calabrian coast to the east. Built in 1954, the square has a mosaic floor in white and lava stone, and tree-lined sidewalks where stone seats are placed.
The village is characterized by the presence of an ancient castle of which only the ruins of the mighty Norman walls remain and in this suggestive setting falconry shows are held.
The Mother Church, rebuilt between 1934 and 1935 on the existing cathedral, is named after St. Nicola di Bari. Architecturally it presents a mixture of styles: from Romanesque to Gothic, from Arabic to Norman. Built near “Punta San Giorgio”, the church stands out for the sobriety of the architectural lines and the uniqueness of its bell tower.
The church of St Biagio was the first church built in Castelmola. Finally, the Church of the Annunciation built in 1100 by Roger the Norman.
During the Christmas period, very suggestive cribs are made in the narrow streets of the village.
Among the eno-gastronomic specialties of the village we find almond wine, homemade bread, homemade macaroni, honey, mustard, dried figs with walnuts and olives.
