È un piccolo comune della costa tirrenica della Città Metropolitana di Messina che si affaccia su una spiaggia a forma di falce (da qui potrebbe derivare il toponimo, oppure anche da “falco”, come sembrerebbe indicare l'immagine sullo stemma) e ospita i laghetti di Marinello, prolungandosi sino al promontorio di Tindari. Due antiche vie lo percorrono: l'antica “Trazzera Regia” e la “Pompea Valeria”.
Circa le sue origini, non si hanno notizie certe. Il ritrovamento di una necropoli in c.da Giglione, risalente al III millennio a.C. fa pensare alla sussistenza di una presenza urbana già in quel periodo.
Per la vicinanza con Oliveri, con cui condivide in parte la sorte, fa supporre che la fondazione sia postuma alla distruzione della città di Tindari. Infatti, sia Oliveri che Falcone appartenevano ad un unico feudatario sino al 1857 quando venne separato per divenire, in seguito, un comune autonomo.
Il paese rimase sotto la diocesi di Furnari fino al 1906 quando fu costruita la chiesa madre dedicata a S. Giovanni Battista.
Fino alla prima metà del XIX sec. il maggior nucleo abitativo era allocato presso la fraz. di Casino (oggi Belvedere) intorno ad una fortezza degli anni 1038-1043. In seguito la stessa fu utilizzata come carcere del Castello di Oliveri, del quale sono attualmente visibili i ruderi delle mura perimetrali e di un pozzo nel cortile interno.
Nel XX secolo con lo sviluppo dell'attività marinara la popolazione, che inizialmente risiedeva in collina, si postò verso la pianura.
Tra i monumenti, oltre alla Chiesa madre di S. Giovanni Battista, dobbiamo enumerare anche quella della SS. Immacolata Concezione (del 1850 circa) nella frazione Belvedere e la più piccola Chiesa di S. Antonio.
Le principali occupazioni riguardano il turismo balneare, la pesca, il commercio, l'artigianato, l'agricoltura.
Diversi i prodotti tipici enogastronomici da gustare.
Si segnalano come attrattive la festa del patrono S. Giovanni Battista che ricorre il 24 giugno di ogni anno e la tradizionale Fiera- Mercato del Bestiame, l'ultimo giovedì di ottobre, dedicata anche alla pesca e all'artigianato.

It is a little municipality of the Tirrenian coast of the Città Metropolitana of Messina that overlooking on a beach shaped like a sickle (from that it can derived the toponym, or also from falcon, such it seemed to indicate the imagine on the coat on arms) and that includes the little lakes of Marinello, extending up to the promontory of Tindari. Two ancient routes run through it, the ancient "Trazzera Regia" and the "Pompea Valeria".
About his origin, there is no certain information. The discovery of a necropolis in c.da Giglione, dating from the third millennium B.C. it suggests to a existence of an urban presence already in that period.
For the proximity with Oliveri, with which it shares in part the fate, on suppose that the foundation is posthumous to the destruction of the town of Tindari. In fact, both Oliveri that Falcone belonged to a single feudal lord until to 1857 whet is was separated to become, later, an autonomous common.
The village remained under the diocese of Furnari until the 1906, when it was built the mother church dedicated to S. Giovanni Battista.
Until the first middle on XIXth century the greater housing nucleus was situated near the village of Casino (now Belvedere) around a fortress of the years 1038 – 1043. In the XXth century with the develop of the maritime activity, the population, that initially resided in the hill, it moved to the plain.

We note as attractions the festival of the patron S. Giovanni Battista, which is the 24th of June each year and the traditional Fair- Cattle Market, the last Thursday of October, also dedicated to fishing and crafts.
