Liberman Alexander
(Kiev 1912 - New York 1999) Un Paradigmatico riassunto delle molteplici esperienze formative dell'artista russo é questa grande tela, acquisita al patrimonio dell'Ente Provinciale nel 1988,qualche anno dopo la sua Retrospettiva/Opere su carta 1950/1981, organizzata in collaborazione con la Galleria di Grafica Contemporanea del Moma di New York a Palazzo dei Leoni ( B.Rose, I Mussa, D. Berger, Alexander Liberman, Messina,1983). Vi si riconoscono: nella organizzazione dello spazio pittorico, la matrice costruttiva architettonica mediata dalla madre scenografa e dalle conoscenze di questa fra gli avanguardisti russi esuli a Parigi; nella stesura gestuale del colore, la rimediata influenza dell'espressionismo astratto respirato fin dal suo arrivo nel 1941 negli Stati Uniti, dove peraltro sembrò anticipare le tendenze Hard Edge degli anni sessanta, nell' informazione sostanzialmente classica, il substrato umanistico acquisito durante la permanenza a Parigi negli anni fondamentali 1924/40. Giocano senza dubbio sugli esiti polimaterici del dipinto le esperienze scultoree appena concluse con il ciclo dell'Area, installazione minimalista modulare di grandi dimensioni, avviata nel 19'79, come pure le attività,rigorose e al limite dell'ossessione, nei vari campi della produzione artistica e soprattutto nella grafica che lo vede affermarsi ai vertici della migliore editoria europea e americana.
