FRANCO ANGELI
Franco Angeli (Roma 1935 - Roma 1988). Importante artista e pittore italiano.Le sue opere vengono realizzate alternando garze di cotone macchiate di vernice, dando vita ad immagini e simboli di potere e violenza (aquile –falci – svastiche –martelli ecc).Nel 1964 introdusse in Italia artisti pop americani, negli anni ’70 accostò alle sue opere temi politici per poi rivolgere la sua attenzione a soggetti figurativi che testimoniano i suoi viaggi in oriente. Morì di aids a 53 anni.

L’autore è un esponente italiano della pop-art, egli in questo dipinto utilizza la tecnica mista su tela ed in esso intende denunciare e condannare il consumismo ed il capitalismo americano. Nell’opera sono raffigurati l’aquila ed il dollaro, dipinti su garza utilizzando la tecnica dello sgocciolamento, a significare l’ambiguità dei falsi idoli.

Franco Angeli Was born in Rome on May the 17of 1935 and died on November the 12 of 1988.Italian artist and painter. His works are made alternating cotton garze stoined with paint giving life to images and symbols of power and violence (eagles, skythes, swastikas,hammer, etc…). In 1964, he introduced in Italy american pop artists. In the’70 he came up to her works political issues, and then turned his attention to figurative subjects that bear witness to his travels in the East. He died of aids at age of 53.His works: The wolf of Rome, Overwhelming, Napoleon, The theater of exhibitions, Souvenir.
HALF DOLLAR - 1966 - He mixed media on canvas, the author, italian exponent of pop art, in this work seeks to condemned consumerism and American Capitalism. In this work appears the eagle-dollar and gauze put-on the paint gilding and applied the technique of dripping, to mean all the ambiguity of the false idols.
